I was graduated at the Medical School of Commenius University Bratislava in 1969. I started working at the Ophthalmic Department of University Hospital. In 1979 I finished my PhD research work „Immunological aspects of choroidal melanoma“. From 1982 to 1984 I worked as an expert in St. Luke´s Hospital in Malta. In 1986 I took the position of Associate professor of Ophthalmic Department of University Hospital in Bratislava. In 1980 I was appointed the Head of Ophthalmic department of Slovak Mediacal University in Bratislava and I work in this position till today. In 2004 I started to be professor of Ophthalmology. Except of choroidal melanoma I am interesting in anterior segment surgery. I was pioneer of phacoemulsification of cataract refraction in Slovakia. I taught many Slovak  and foreign doctor in facoemulsification technicque. In 2003 I performed first excimer surgery for myopia in Slovakia at Ophthalmology Department of Slovak Medical University. This center was the biggest center of refractive surgery. Also the first Eye bank for Corneal transplant in Slovakia was established in Ophthalmology Department of Slovak Medical University  and this department is performing most corneal transplant in Slovakia.

I published 73 research work in domestic and foreign ophthalmic Journals. I had more than 400 lectures in Ophthalmic Congresses around the world.

I visited for short or longer time many Ophthalmic Department in Europe and USA.

I was 8 years the president of Slovak Society of Ophthalmolgy, now I am president of Slovak Cataract and Refractive Society. I was 8 years  member of European Council of Ophthalmology. I am board member South-East European Ophthalmological Society (SEEOS).
